If you have just moved to Barcelona and your residence papers are already in order, there are four things you will need almost immediately: the empadronamiento (registration on the padrón), your Social Security number, a Spanish bank account and the digital certificate. Our Barcelona Welcome Pack handles all four, in the right order, for 220 € + VAT.

Booked one by one, the same four services cost 280 € + VAT, so the pack saves you 60 €. More importantly, it saves you from the usual loop of new arrivals: being asked for one document in order to get another that you have not got yet.

Who the pack is for

  • People who have just arrived in Barcelona with their visa, TIE card, EU registration certificate or NIE already sorted.
  • Employees about to start a job in Spain who need a Social Security number and an account for their salary.
  • Remote workers, digital nomads and future autónomos who want to deal with the administration online from the start.

If you still need your residence documents, the pack is not the right starting point. Our Residency pack for non-EU citizens (300 € + VAT) and Residency pack for EU citizens (200 € + VAT) cover that stage first. If your residence card is still pending, see our TIE card in Barcelona page.

Why the order matters

Each of these four procedures depends to some extent on the one before it. Doing them out of sequence is how new arrivals lose time in their first month. This is the order we follow:

1. Empadronamiento first

The padrón is the town hall register of who lives at each address. It is the proof of address that many other offices and companies ask for, and it is the gateway to public health care, school places and later immigration procedures. Without it, the rest of the list tends to stall. You can read more on our empadronamiento in Barcelona page.

2. Social Security number before you start work

The Social Security number (NUSS) is your personal number in the Spanish Social Security system. Your employer needs it to register you, and you need it to access public health care through your contributions. If you are going to be self-employed, it is required to register as an autónomo. Getting it before your first working day avoids a start with paperwork pending.

3. The bank account

A Spanish account is where your salary, rent, utilities and tax payments will go. Each bank sets its own conditions for opening an account for a foreign resident, so we choose the route that fits your situation and documents rather than sending you from branch to branch.

4. The digital certificate

The digital certificate is the electronic signature that lets you deal with the Tax Agency, Social Security, the immigration electronic offices and the town hall online. It is the item that pays off later: every procedure you can do with it is an appointment you will not need to book in the future.

What each item unlocks

  • Padrón: proof of address, access to the public health system, school registration and many later procedures.
  • Social Security number: being registered by an employer, registering as self-employed and your contribution record.
  • Bank account: receiving your salary, paying rent and bills by direct debit, and paying taxes and Social Security.
  • Digital certificate: online access to your tax, Social Security and town hall records, and electronic notifications.

What we do for you

We start with a short review of your documents and your plans, and then coordinate the four procedures so that each one is ready when the next one needs it. We prepare the forms, book what has to be booked and tell you what to take with you. Where something has to be done online, we guide you through it. You deal with one team, in English, from the first step to the last.

What is included

  • Initial review of your residence documents and your situation.
  • Empadronamiento in Barcelona.
  • Application for your Social Security number.
  • Support opening a Spanish bank account.
  • Your personal digital certificate, including installation and first use.

Common mistakes we help you avoid

  • Going to the bank before you have proof of address. It often means a second visit.
  • Starting a job without a Social Security number. Your employer cannot register you properly until it exists.
  • Using a rental contract that does not allow registration, or not having the documents the town hall needs to register you at that address.
  • Leaving the digital certificate for later. People tend to look for it when a deadline is already close.
  • Mixing up the NIE and the Social Security number. They are two different numbers issued by two different administrations.

Frequently asked questions

Can I buy the pack if I do not have my residence card yet? The pack is designed for people whose residence papers are already in order. If they are not, start with one of our residency packs and add the rest afterwards.

Why is the padrón done first? Because it is the proof of address that other procedures and companies ask for. Doing it first keeps the rest moving.

Do I need the Social Security number if I am self-employed? Yes. It is needed to register as an autónomo, and the digital certificate then lets you receive Social Security notifications online.

Can I book only some of the services? Yes. Each service can be booked on its own at the individual price, but the pack costs 60 € less than the four together.

Is the pack available for EU citizens? Yes, as long as your EU registration certificate is already done. If it is not, our Residency pack for EU citizens covers it.

Requirements and procedures can change, so we confirm the current ones for your case.
